Circus as a tool for inclusion.
Circus pedagogy uses circus to support learning and personal and social development, not to train performers. Circus creates many chances to cooperate, communicate, build trust, be creative, take on challenges and experience success.
A central idea: circus can be for everyone, whatever their age, body, experience, gender or background. During the week you'll see how a group of young people moves from individual games to creating a short collective performance where everyone contributes.
What you'll practise
- Juggling, poi and diabolo
- Partner and group acrobatics (acrobalance)
- Clowning and physical theatre
- Creating a collective performance
- Making your own juggling balls
- Designing accessible workshops for young people and planning future projects
About 8 hours of activities a day, with time for reflection at the end of each day.
People who work with young people, or want to.
Educators, youth leaders, facilitators or volunteers looking for new creative tools. No circus or theatre experience needed.
Requirements
- Aged 18 or over and living in Spain.
- Good English: it's the working language.
- Involved in youth work, or keen to start.
- Take part in the whole programme, from arrival day to departure day.
- Within the following month, run an activity in your community and share it on social media.
- Interested in developing new international projects.
- Travel with health and travel insurance (for example, the European Health Insurance Card).
You bring the energy. Erasmus+ covers the rest.
Accommodation (rooms of up to 6 beds) and all meals, from dinner on 1 February to breakfast on 7 February, are covered.
Travel is reimbursed after the course, up to a maximum based on the distance between your city and Brežice. If you travel by train or bus for at least half of the trip, the maximum is higher. To be reimbursed you need to keep tickets, invoices and boarding passes, and fill in the Erasmus+ survey.
